The AM560 Morning Show -- February 2nd, 2015
Were you able to make it in to work today? While most of Chicago stayed home to dig out from the blizzard of 2015 we at “The Answer” are here to fulfill our duty of bringing you the best news talk in the City of Chicago. Dan and Amy have another loaded show to make your Monday a little better. Monday morning, as the fifth largest blizzard to ever hit Chicago moves east, Chicago-area residents woke to more than 19 inches of snow on the ground and a morning commute that was difficult at best. At about 7:30 a.m., weather service officials said lake-effect snow was tapering off, ending a storm that started Saturday evening and produced nearly non-stop snowfall. Coupled with drifting snow and wind gusts of up to 45 mph, the storm made for a rough morning commute, though Metra and the CTA had vowed they would be largely on schedule. Besides the Super Bowl Chicago definitely has allot to talk about yesterday. Dan and Amy have all the latest on the blizzard of 2015. They have help for Tammy Souza , FOX 32 Chicago’s best Meteorologist. President Obama has again refused to call the battle with terrorism in the Middle East a war against radical Islam. In his latest interview, the Commander-in-Chief agrees certain factions have perverted the religion having embraced a 'nihilistic, violent, almost medieval interpretation of Islam' But he insists that such labels hurt efforts to root out radical ideologies in Muslim communities which have been tainted by groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda. Why will Pres. Obama not call a terrorist a terrorist?? Juan Williams of FOX News is here to try and help Dan and Amy answer that very question. President Obama on Monday opened his campaign for a $4 trillion budget despite it being given little chance of passing, as Republicans blast the fresh-off-the-presses proposal as a bundle of new spending, new taxes -- and new borrowing. The plan includes a half-trillion-dollar public works program and an array of tax increases meant to fund a host of other agenda items. The document hinges on what Obama calls "middle-class economics," seeking tax breaks for many Americans while imposing increases on top earners, corporations and particularly the financial sector. Referring to proposed spending on everything from roads to education initiatives, Obama said, "We can afford to make these investments while remaining fiscally responsible." "We would be making a critical error if we avoided making these investments," he added. "We can't afford not to." Why don’t we ask a actual member of Congress what their thoughts are on this new and improved budget? Rep. Randy Hultgren is here to share exactly that. In the end, as it always has been with Mitt Romney, it was about the data. Three weeks to the day since he informed a group of Republican financiers in New York that he was serious about a third presidential bid, Romney on Friday finally pulled the plug on his long and sometimes agonizing political career, telling supporters that he would not mount a third bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Although this was heart breaking news to many Republicans it is now time to move on and figure out who is the next man up. Who better to ask than the bad boy himself Joe Walsh. He makes his weekly stop over at the show to share some love. After scrutinizing intelligence and every frame of videos featuring high-profile ISIS hostages, many counter-terrorism analysts and experts have concluded that some captives appeared compliant before being killed because they had already faced repeated mock executions on camera, current and former counter-terrorism officials told ABC News. Jessica Golloher is live in Jerusalem with all the latest from the troubled Middle East. Get a good stretch in and in between shoveling trips enjoy another great morning show!!
