Doctors Who Question Medicine
doctors-who-question-medicineEarly in training, doctors are told what they're learning is the "best we can do." Two doctors think it's time to Question Medicine.Dr. Joe Weatherly and Dr. Andrew Buelt are two doctors who, early in their training, started to question what they were being taught in medical school.

As the two doctors sat there discussing why they needed to order a bunch of tests and interventions that did not seem to help their patients, they began to question, “why are we doing this?”

As many other residents did, they referred to such websites as Up To Date, Medscape, MedPage Today and even to classic textbooks such as Harrison’s. They still were not satisfied with their answers.

As a result, Dr. Weatherly and Dr. Buelt started the website, QuestioningMedicine.com.

Now, they go against the grain in medicine to ensure that the patient's needs come first. These doctors don't order tests if they aren't necessary and they don't write a prescription if they think it won't help. They educate their patients on various medical options instead of following the "evidenced-based medicine" platform (where they'd also earn an extra buck for every prescription they'd write).

Isn't it time we all start to "Question Medicine"?
