ABA Section of Antitrust Law Spring Meeting 2017: From the Perspective of the Plaintiffs’ Bar

Scott Martin has spent 25 years practicing law. Most of it was on the defense side of things but more recently he’s switched to the plaintiff side. In this Special Report, host Hilla Shimshoni talks to Scott Martin about his switch from defense to plaintiff work and how the new administration will affect the future of the plaintiffs’ antitrust bar. Also mentioned in the episode was the successful mock trial that took place at the Spring Meeting. This mock trial, according to Scott, is a vital opportunity for young lawyers to experience court in a hands-on way. He concludes the episode by sharing his excitement for the ABA’s first Global Private Litigation Conference, which will feature “insights into the continuing path of multi-jurisdictional and collective antitrust redress.”

Scott Martin spent over 25 years principally on the defense side of the bar. He joined Hausfeld in 2015, continuing his corporate counseling and advocacy practice but focusing on claimants’ litigation.

Hilla Shimshoni is an associate at Alston & Bird LLP, focusing on antitrust. Hilla advises clients on a wide range of matters, including mergers & acquisitions clearance and risk analysis, strategic counseling, investigations and compliance, and represents clients before the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice.
