Ricardo Ray y Bobby Cruz grabaron para pocos sellos discográficos. En sus comienzos lo hicieron para Fonseca, luego pasaron a Alegre y Tico, que en ese entonces pertenecían al mismo dueño. Pero en 1968 abrieron un compás y grabaron dos álbumes paralelos para United Artists, UA Latino: El Diferente en 1968 y Viva Ricardo en 1969. Fue una búsqueda de nuevos caminos, que hizo más intensa la producción de esta pareja de artistas. Así, en enero de 1969 grabaron para Tico ¡Los Durísimos y Yo!, presentando a Nydia Caro. Y entre el 26 y el 29 de mayo de ese año grabaron para UA Latino, Viva Ricardo. Esta es la historia de Viva Ricardo en La Hora Faniática.
