Lionsgate unveiled the first footage from John Wick: Chapter Two at CinemaCon yesterday and, no surprise, received a huge, positive reaction. The audience hit twitter faster than a bullet with many reps from their outlet saying how much crazy action is involved. Some of the more excited reactions include Slash Film’s Peter Sciretta calling it more cinematic looking with bigger action, JoBlo.com saying it looks every bit as badass as you hoped and our own Steve Frosty Weintraub saying he was happy to report that John Wick had plenty of great action moments with Rome providing a more cinematic and beautiful backdrop.
Jason Statham has signed on to lead the Warner Bros. creature feature Meg, which will pit his character against a giant prehistoric shark. National Treasure helmer Jon Turteltaub is set to direct the adventure film, which finds a 60-foot Megalodon, the prehistoric ancestor of the great white shark, feeding on swimmers along the china coast. No details are known about Statham’s character as of yet nor is there a release date.
A film about LA’s famous magic club, Magic Castle, has been in the works for a few years now. For those unfamiliar with the private club in Hollywood, it hosts magicians and their guests in the headquarters of the Academy of Magic Arts Incorporated. Now, according to a report in THR, The Magic Castle movie has gained a little momentum, with Ridley Scott‘s Scott Free Productions signing on to help usher the movie to the big screen.
According to a report from Variety, it looks like Warren Beatty is interested in making a sequel to Dick Tracy. After receiving an award at Cinema Con, Beatty was asked about the potential sequel with Beatty confirming one in development. Producer Arnon Milchan, producer of Beatty’s latest Howard Hughes bio-pic, was a little more specific, confirming the sequel has been discussed and that it could be completed “within two years.”
